Lisa grew up in Hickory, North Carolina. She spent her childhood collecting hobbies. She played roller hockey, rode a unicycle (seriously), went llama-trekking, and watched a variety of shows with her sister that nobody in our generation cares about like Three's Company, Mary Tyler Moore, and Taxi. When she wasn't doing one of those "normal" things, she was busy trying to adopt as many neighborhood dogs as possible, collecting snow in Tic-Tac boxes (in case scientists discovered that the snowfall of 1994 contained the cure for cancer?), writing entries for her dog blog, and spending summers with her family in Finland, at their lakehouse on Lake Pyhäjärvi.
When she reached high school, she was ruthlessly stripped of her passion for unicycle club due to lack of funding. It was then that she finally joined the vast majority of the human race as a member of the track, cross country, and swimming teams. In spite of her participation in sports, she went on to win Miss Saint Stephens her senior year -- and shortly thereafter broke her arm in the school play. After suffering through multiple proms with her arm in a cast, it was time to move on to bigger and better things: college.
Lisa went on to attend Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina in 2002 where she was the Social Chair for Sigma Kappa sorority, learned to swing dance, and succeeded in only taking one class her entire college career before 11am. In 2005, she studied abroad throughout Scandinavia with her good friend (and bridesmaid!) Ashley. After graduating in 2007 with a BS in Marketing and Management, she moved to Charleston, SC to work as a software consultant for Blackbaud, where she still works today. Little did she know that a couple of months after she became a Charlestonian, she would cross paths with an athletic, funny, and considerate guy that would one day become her husband.
Lisa's current passions include traveling the world, watching and playing ice hockey (go Penguins!), drinking Prosecco, and competing in dog agility with her 6-year-old Silky Terrier, Madison. And occassionally riding her unicycle.
